HP Omen 880-122na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have my new Omen, and I'm adding some HDDs.  The top bay ones insert fine with no issue, but to my surprise the extra/top internal bay only have a power cable and no SATA cable.  I see where there is a SATA 2 open port to plug in a cable, but which cable should I get?  I see right and left angle ones along with Standard and Latching.

Sorry for the noobish question, but I'd like to order the right one.  Also - come on HP, why not include the extra cable?  You guys probably get those things for like £1 for 10 of them...

what is important is the SATA cable lenght, you need to order one that will be long enouf to reach from the motherboard sata port to the drive bay

a locking/latching sata cable is just a normal sata cable with small clips that prevent cable removal unless the clip is depressed

most new motherboard sata ports support the locking cables, but if they don't a locking sata cable can still be used as the design of the motherboard sockets was made such that either style works

usually straight end sata cables work fine, you only need the 90 degree bend ones if space is at a premimum like on some motherboards where a pci-e card covers  a vertical sata port, this is why most MB makers try to place sata ports horizantal along the edge of the board

Thanks for the reply.  It looks like the the the end coming out of the motherboard is normal, but the one going into the current HDD is indeed a right angle one.  However, I see right and left angled ones online to purchase, and I'm not sure which to get.  It looks like it has to do with the little bump sticking out of the cable.

again,......unless their is a space issue buy a straight sata cable

i think space is an issue, which is why HP used an angled one.  My question is whether I need a right or left one.  Here is the curent one.IMG_20181016_165120.jpg

if you don't beleive me that you need a right angle cable  splurge the two bucks and order one of each

btw, see the small metal bit on the sata cable in the picture? that's the locking tab, so your system does use locking sata cables

I went ahead and ordered the right angle one.
