Hi:
Below is the link to the product specs for your PC.
HP Pavilion Desktop - 510-p159a PC Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support
According to the motherboard specifications, there is no M.2 slot for a SSD at all.
The one M.2 socket 1, key A, is where the wireless card is installed in and that is all it will support.
If you want to upgrade to a SSD, you will need to replace the 3.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SATA SSD.

So I can replace a 3.5 in HDD with a 2.5 in SATA SSD; BUT I cannot have both the HDD and an SSD, correct ?
If so, all I need is the SSD plus 4 screws to hold it in place ?
What are the screws called; or can I use the screws from the HDD ?
How do I clone the HDD to an SSD ?
Do I need a USB cable to the SATA SSD ? And do I need some software ? Which software ?
Thank you

hi
you will need to open and check
https://support.hp.com/au-en/product/hp-pavilion-510-p100-desktop-pc-series/12079675/model/14183327/...
the motherboard has only two sata connectors, occupied by the hdd and the cd drive
If you don't need the CD player, you may be able to use the connector in this case.
An ssd does not need a lot of space, see if you can fix it somewhere
If you install it instead of the HDD, you need a 3.5/2.5 adapter, screws sometimes supplied with the player, or the adapter, you have to check
Some manufacturers provide software for copying, for example acronis
Otherwise you have the macrium software, and many others on the net
you should be able to connect the SSD instead of the cd drive, in order to make the copy even if you will not use the HDD
to check if there are enough sata power cables

Thanks for your reply
I like the suggestion of using the SSD in place of the cd drive.
I opened the PC but the cables to the CD drive seem to be different to the ones to the HDD.
So will the cables now going to the CD drive also fit with the SSD ? Which means all I need to buy is an SSD and nothing else is required ?
Thanks
