I'd like to upgrade (add) USB-3 to my existing computer. Which USB-3 PCI card (make & model) would be compatible with my computer? Are there any which should be avoided? Can the card just be installed or are there other changes/upgrades required to cause it to work properly?

Yes, you can add the USB 3.0 but it would work in 2.0 as the motherboard should be capable to do so.
Hence you would need a Powered USB hub.

I went to the link you provided and did not find anything I recognized as a USB-3 PCI card. The following was entered:
Serial Number : 2MD1490528 Product Number : QC458AV#ABA Description : HP PAVILION HPE H8-1150Z CTO DESKTOP PC RoHS Status : COMPLY_2.04
Does this mean I am unable to add USB-3 functionality to my computer?

Yes, you can add USB3 to your PC. Try this card, I like it.
Please click the "Thumbs up + button" if I have helped you and click "Accept as Solution" if your problem is solved. If both apply......do both.

HP did not special sell this kind USB3.0 PCI add-on card to your product, because most USB ports suppcomort will come from Motherboard itself now.
But you can buy 3rd party card then plug-in into PCI slot like previous reply said, but I will suggest you that when you try to find the card, please found the Win10 support or MS win10 certifcation LOGO/tag on box - it means that it had been certify by Microsoft & have WHQL driver.
