HP T740 Thin Client
Linux

Hello Everyone.

Good day to you.

I have a HP T740 thin client without any WLAN card installed. It has a m.2 vacant slot and I want to buy a WLAN card to use it. As per the documentation provided by HP, an Intel 9260ngw WLAN card can be installed. In most of my searches on Google and Youtube, I have found that a WLAN card usually requires antennas which needs to be physically fitted on both WLAN and Motherboard. However, I do not see anywhere on the motherboard to fit antennas. I am having a big time buying one for me due to the same issue. Due to this I have also not bought any WLAN card yet. I do not want to get into the trouble in replacing it or damaging the system in the process. So, I have come here to seek help from you folks to help me on this. For me brand doesn't concern me as long as it is compatible and does my work. Also, I'd rather not try any workarounds thinking that there's gotta be some WLAN that I could just install w/w/o antennas. Please help me with my query.

The simplest solution would be to purchase a USB wireless dongle that works with the flavor of Linux you are using.

a WLAN m.2 card would indeed require antennas and the wiring between the module and the antenna(s).
