HP EliteDesk 800 GI Base Model Small Form Factor PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP EliteDesk 800 GI Base Model Small Form
Factor PC .

It does not support Miracast.

It has been upgraded to Windows 10 from a earlier operating system.

What I want to know is which parts do I need to replace in order to be able to use the Miracast function.

Will putting a Wi-Fi 6 wireless card solve my problem?

Do I need to replace the graphics card?

Or is the motherboard in some way just in innately incompatible with Miracast?

If the motherboard just will not support Miracast then there's no point in reinvesting any resources in say a new graphics card.

windows 10 has all necessary support built in (software wise) you simply need miracast compatible hardware and this covers several hundreds of wifi card/monitors so you will have to see if the hardware you want to use is compatible

if your current wifi card is not compatible your best bet is to look at laptop wifi cards and use a pci-e wifi adapter card one such card the does have miracast support is the  intel 7260ac which is available in two different form factors (m.2/HMC)

your video card/monitor if 5years or less old will already have support

rather than reinvent the wheel, read this link it will give you most of what you need to know
