Hi, I've just bought AiO pc and noticed that cpu fan on idle is generating whining (waving) noise. I contacted hp support however thay said it's something normal. I disagree and looking for different opinion. CPU fan speed in BIOS is showing as it's variable 1082-1196 RPM. Is it normal for fan to keep waving like that ? Shouldn't be constant speed of for example 1100 RPM not changing every millisecond ? I'd like to get second opinion before I decide to send it to service or return it to retail. I've never had all in one before and every other computer/laptop I had didn't do that - fan was spinning with the same speed and increasing significantly when CPU was under load.

If it's under warranty and you can do without it then send it back. No point using it if you aren't happy and I think you are correct in your concern, I don't think it's normal and may indicate an underlying issue. Perhaps it's unique to this model but I agree with you that fans don't commonly act that way.

All sorted - unit returned. Now I am enjoying super fast and very quiet Lenovo IdeaCentre.
