Hello everyone,

I'm considering upgrading the GPU in my Victus 15L TG02-0056jp and looking for information about RTX 5060 Ti 16GB compatibility.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
【MY PC SPECS】
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
・Model: Victus 15L TG02-0056jp (TG02-0000a series)
・CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G
・Motherboard: Erica8 (B550A)
・PSU: 500W 80PLUS GOLD
・Current GPU: RX 6600XT 8GB
・BIOS: F.28 (Released: August 1, 2025 - Latest)

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
【QUESTION】
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
I'm considering upgrading to the following GPU. Will it work?

**GPU under consideration:**
・NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB
・Specific models:
- Kuroutoshikou GALAKURO GG-RTX5060Ti-E16GB/OC/DF (240mm, 180W)
- GIGABYTE GV-N506TWF2MAX OC 16GB (208mm, 180W)

**My concerns:**
1. **BIOS compatibility:** Will BIOS F.28 support RTX 5060 Ti (released 2025)?
2. **Power supply:** Will 500W 80PLUS GOLD handle 180W TDP GPU?
3. **Physical size:** Will 208mm~240mm GPU physically fit?
4. **Legacy motherboard issue:** NVIDIA's official site mentions "RTX 5060 series may experience blank screen on reboot with certain legacy motherboards." Does Erica8 motherboard (2022 model) fall into this category?

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
【WHAT I'VE RESEARCHED】
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
**Confirmed information:**
・Same Ryzen 5 5600G model (TG02-0000a) with RTX 4060 (115W) is officially sold internationally
・RTX 5060 Ti (180W) is direct successor to RTX 4060 (+65W)
・Review articles mention "245mm or less recommended"
・BIOS F.28 was released August 1, 2025 (7 months after RTX 5060 Ti launch)

**Cannot confirm:**
・Actual working reports of RTX 5060 Ti 16GB on Ryzen 5 5600G model (TG02-0000a/TG02-0056jp)
・Whether BIOS F.28 supports RTX 5000 series

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

@Asukaran,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

I could not locate a single HP Victus 15L TG02-0xxx system fitted with an RTX 50xx series graphics card as found here amongst nearly 3,000 benchmarks: https://www.userbenchmark.com/System/HP-Victus-by-HP-15L-Gaming-Desktop-TG02-0xxx/263041.

Point is, whether or not an RTX 5060 Ti 16GB will work on your system is unknown. For example, I couldn't get an RTX 5070 to work on my HP Pavilion TP01-3xxx system: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Upgrading-an-HP-Pavilion-TP01-3....

My TP01-3xxx system (both for the AMD and Intel motherboards) is very similar to your TG02-0xxx.

I even tried again last weekend to see if the RTX 5070 would work on my TP01-3xxx given some new microcode updates from HP: no such luck though -back to the trusted RTX 2080 Super, but I digress.

Your 500-watt power supply is sufficient to power the 180-watt TDP rated RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, powered by a single 8-pin PCIe power cable, no problem there.

I would recommend the smaller-sized (dual fan) models, such as the: GIGABYTE RTX 5060 Ti WINDFORCE MAX OC 16 GB Specs | TechPowerUp GPU Database, which you referenced.

However, like I mentioned, it is not clear if the latest Nvidia RTX 50xxx cards will work or not in your system. Like you said, a smaller-sized (dual fan) RTX 4060 Ti 16GB would definitely work beautifully, such as this model: ASUS DUAL RTX 4060 Ti OC 16 GB Specs | TechPowerUp GPU Database.

Kind Regards,

Thank you so much for your incredibly detailed and helpful response!

Your real-world experience with RTX 5070 on HP Pavilion TP01-3xxx (and the fact that it worked on the older 590-p0xxx but NOT on the newer TP01-3xxx) clearly demonstrates the unpredictable compatibility issues with OEM systems.

After carefully considering your expert advice, I've decided to:
1. Avoid RTX 5060 Ti 16GB (too risky with no confirmed working cases)
2. Look for RTX 4060 Ti 16GB dual-fan models as you recommended
3. As a backup plan: stick with my RX 6600XT 8GB, upgrade to 32GB RAM,
and save for a completely new PC in 1-2 years

Your expertise has saved me from potentially wasting money on an incompatible GPU.

I really appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge and experience with this community!

Best regards

Hi there,

I completely understand the concerns you're facing with upgrading your GPU in the Victus 15L. I’ve been through a similar situation myself while living in Italy, and I can share some insights based on my own experience with upgrading hardware like GPUs.

1-BIOS Compatibility

First off, BIOS compatibility is crucial. When I was upgrading my GPU a few years ago, I faced similar concerns, and I found that BIOS updates often add support for newer hardware. In my case, I had to update my motherboard BIOS to support the latest GPUs, including some of the higher-end RTX models.

Given that you’re working with BIOS F.28 on your Erica8 motherboard, which was released in August 2025, it's likely that it’ll support the RTX 5060 Ti. But, as I’ve learned, even small BIOS updates can make a significant difference. I recommend checking HP's support page or community for any specific mentions of RTX 5060 Ti compatibility with F.28. If you don’t see any information, it might be worth updating to a newer version just to ensure smooth operation.

2-Power Supply

Next, the power supply is another concern that I had when upgrading my GPU. A 500W PSU is typically enough for mid-range GPUs, but the RTX 5060 Ti has a higher TDP of 180W, which is a step up from your current RX 6600XT.

I found that my 500W PSU handled it just fine, as long as it was 80PLUS GOLD certified, like yours. The GOLD certification ensures better efficiency and less power loss, which helps when you're pushing the system with a more demanding GPU. However, it’s always a good idea to leave some overhead. If you're running multiple peripherals or plan on future upgrades, you might want to consider a 550W or 600W PSU for extra stability.

3-Physical Size

In terms of size, this is where I made an error once—underestimating how large a GPU could be in a cramped case. The RTX 5060 Ti variants you’re considering (like the GALAKURO GG-RTX5060Ti-E16GB and GIGABYTE GV-N506TWF2MAX) range from 208mm to 240mm in length.

Before I upgraded, I measured the internal dimensions of my case just to be sure there was enough room for the GPU. Even if the specs say a GPU should fit, always double-check the clearance in your case, especially around the PCIe slot and power connectors. From what I can see, your case should handle this, but I’d recommend verifying the exact available space.

4-Legacy Motherboard Issue

Finally, I had similar worries about legacy motherboard issues, which are notorious for causing black screens or crashes with newer GPUs. I remember when upgrading to an NVIDIA card, I had to ensure my motherboard was fully compatible. From what I’ve researched, your Erica8 motherboard (released in 2022) shouldn’t fall under the legacy category that causes these issues. However, it's worth checking the exact chipset compatibility.

It’s always best to verify with the manufacturer or through the community, as I’ve learned that even motherboards from the same year can sometimes have subtle differences in how they interact with newer GPUs.

In my personal experience, after updating my BIOS, checking the power supply, and ensuring enough space in the case, everything worked fine. I would recommend you test with a BIOS update if possible, and ensure you have enough overhead in terms of power and space. Hopefully, your upgrade will be as smooth as mine!

Good luck, and feel free to reach out if you run into any more issues. Let me know how it goes.

Best Regards, 😊
