Z2 G4

Pretty much what the title asks. I'm planning on picking up a Z2 G4 that has an i5-8500 but am wondering if I can upgrade to an i9-9900T. They are compatible with LGA1151 motherboards which the Z2 G4 has so shouldn't it essentially work?

HP did not offer any of the Intel 'T' processors in the model series.

HP Z2 Tower G4 Workstation

This benchmarking website shows 3 reports from users that have the Z2 G4 with an i3-8100T, so perhaps the i9-9900T would also work.

UserBenchmark: HP Z2 Tower G4 Workstation Compatible Components

If you are referring to the Z2 G4 DM, no Intel 'T' processors were offered in the model series.

HP Z2 Mini G4 Workstation

The userbenchnmark site does not have any reports of someone installing any Intel 'T' processors in the model series.

I don't know why you would want to do that, instead of installing the supported i9-9900 but you must have a reason.

Thank you. Now that I think about an i7-8700 would probably suffice and would be a cheaper upgrade overall.

You're very welcome.

Maybe in a few years you can install the i9-9900 when the prices come down.
