OMEN by HP Desktop PC - 880-108na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello.

As we all well know, NVidia has recently launched their RTX 30 series graphics cards. The price is unreal  and I thought of upgrading.

However, I am afraid of incompatibilities.

The power supply problem is quite obvious, as it sucks almost double the wattage, but will the motherboard be able to handle it or that will need an upgrade also, that is my question.

Any answer is appreciated

Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the world of upgrade.

Your would need the Corsair CX650 or if you want, the CX650M.

Before you start the process, you need to do some measuring.

Measure the backside (circuit board side) of the existing GTX 1060.  Any extra room towards the front ?

New RTX 3070 must not exceed available space.

Here is video of how to remove the existing 500W PSU.

Before you shutdown the unit, you have to uninstall all software and drivers for the old GTX 1060, then power down. Remove the power cord from the back of the power supply before you remove the side panels.  Then start the removal of components, (GPU and PSU).

Thank you a lot for all the information regarding the power supply.
Since you did not mention any motherboard incompatibilities, I assume there aren't any.
If so, I am happy to accept this as the answer. Thanks a bunch.
