Yes, that would be a logical decision. For one, it would remove the challenges that often come with upgrading a (non-gaming) PC -I should know, because I have upgraded a number of legacy HP desktops. That was fun for me, but it may not be anyone's cup of tea. And if you are into gaming (or will be), I would indeed recommend looking around for a gaming platform that is within your budget.

Would this be worth purchasing for my budget (£50) ? I just want to run roblox and fortnite smoothly. If not, could you find a better pc for £50?
Dell OptiPlex 3050 SFF i5-6500@3.20Ghz 8GB DDR4 RAM 240GB 2.5" SSD Windows 10 Intel HD Graphics 530
Thanks

The Dell desktop you referenced wouldn't be able to play these games smoothly, as demonstrated by this Dell OptiPlex 3050 User benchmark (Graphics Card/performance: "Terrible"): Dell OptiPlex 3050 Performance Results - UserBenchmark.
And no, there is nothing that you can buy for £50 that would even come close to what you want to do.

Look, you could play Roblox and Fortnite on your HP Compaq 8200 Elite SFF according to Roblox System Requirements - Can I Run It? - PCGameBenchmark:
And:
Reference: Fortnite System Requirements - Can I Run It? - PCGameBenchmark.
But the point is playing these games at high frame rates? -Most likely not. The fact that according to PCGameBenchmark your PC meets "minimum system requirements" means little, only that your PC is not going to stall or freeze.
For example, if we look at Fortnite's "recommended system requirements", we see this:
Have you tried to play these games on your PC? My assumption was that you did and wasn't satisfied with how it played.

A low profile GTX 650 such as the Zotac GTX 650 LP will fit, but not the Nvidia GeForce model you referenced.
Btw, a GTX 650 performs even worse than a GT 1030: UserBenchmark: Nvidia GT 1030 vs GTX 650.
Look, getting Fortnite to run at 150 fps (or even 75 fps) is not going to happen with your system for a meager 50 quid.

You need a low profile GPU to fit in the case and prefereably one that requires no external power unless you wanna sacrifice your optical drive and use ONLY one SSD (not HDD) since the PSU cant cope with much
