Looking for information regarding the Willow 2 Motherboard. I have only found information on the 1st willow board. I am looking to upgrade my A10-9700 to the new Ryzen 1600. Both 65w with AM4. In theory, it should work. Before I spend the money on the new CPU I am looking for some confirmation.

Thank you for the information!

Hi

You can review Willow2 specifications at this HP Support site.

This motherboard may not POST if you install a Ryzen.

There is a BIOS update for your PC. The fixes section in the previous link does not include support for additional processors such as the Ryzen.

Hi,

In theory the Ryzen should work as the Willow2 has the correct socket and chipset. However, I haven't seen any Willow2 mobos or BIOS updates that mention Ryzen support.

Historically, AMD hasn't required BIOS updates for processors as compared with Intel. If you can get a Ryzen on consignment or with a full money back refund then go for it and let us know the results.

A bit of caution as the Ryzen mobos and BIOS updates for many third party manufacturers took some iterations to get stability.

Thanks. This is what I was thinking. I might buy the CPI and try it in a few weeks. I will post my findings.

If someone else has tried this please chime in

Hi Seanhall

Get back to the forum after you install the processor.

I am interested to know if a Ryzen will work when HP specs don't list this processor as an unqualified upgrade path and there is no HP BIOS update to support this processor.
