HP ENVY Curved All-in-One - 34-b010qe CTO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Envy All-in-One has an Intel(R) Core (TM) i7-7700T CPU @ 2.90GHz processor in a 1151 socket.  I have found Windows 11 compatible CPUs that I could upgrade in that socket, but I worry about compatibility with the rest of my system.  Can anyone recommend CPUs that are compatible with my system by serial number or familiarity with my product that could upgrade my system to Windows 11 compatibility?

I was looking at (Less than $200):

Intel Core i3-9100 Desktop Processor 4 Cores up to 4.2 GHz LGA1151 300 Series 65W

Intel Core i5-9600KF 3.7 GHz LGA 1151 (300 Series) CM8068403874410 Desktop Processor

I like my system and don't want to upgrade to a totally new system.

I will buy the parts from HP at slightly higher prices if they help.

TIA

Greg

Hi, @agbai

If you are interested, this W11 hardware check bypass  is the easiest to do in my opinion, and you can do an in-place upgrade as well instead of a clean install...see this discussion.

@agbai,

According to HP's processor compatibility, unfortunately it looks like you can't upgrade to a W11 compatible CPU:

Also, when I searched online to find any HP Envy AIO 34-b0xx system fitted with anything better than your i7-7700T, I found nothing, such as here: UserBenchmark: HP ENVY Curved All-in-One PC 34-b0xx Compatible Components.

I'm researching this more, as I am also running an i7-7700 ("K" version) in a 1151 socket, and it would indeed be nice if we could find a W11 compatible CPU.

But don't hold your breath just yet: there are other things to consider such as BIOS and chipset...

[EDIT:] -Unfortunately, you cannot upgrade your processor thanks to chipset H270: CPU-Upgrade: Intel H270 chipset processor support

@agbai,

Now, this may be a long stretch, but I want to mention it anyway: it appears that the physical and I/O etc. dimensions of a related HP Envy AIO PC 34 b1xx motherboard (Canard with chipset H370) could possibly fit inside your AIO and could be fitted with a W11 compatible processor:

You could purchase this MB for $175.50 (assuming you live in the US) here: HP ENVY CURVED 34-BO MOTHERBOARD SOCKET 115XLM 900464-001 GRADE B | eBay.

[DISCLAIMER:] -There are no guarantees whatsoever this would work, but as someone who has already gone where few have gone before in seriously upgrading legacy HP PC's, this would be something I would try if I had an HP Envy AIO PC 34.

Say you purchase this motherboard and it doesn't work, you have 30 days as per eBay to return to sender and get your money back.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

Thank you so much for the information.  Any advice on beta testing 11 on an unapproved CPU platform?  I can't believe my system can't run 11.  I upgraded my son's pavillion notepad to 11 and it is a slug next to my desktop.  I did upgrade his hard drive later and find that much of his system performance was being dragged down by the storage but it still lags behind my desktop.

I wish Microsoft would just let one beta test 11 on your computer to help broaden the compatibility.

I would pay for it and take responsibility for having a system image to revert back to 10 if it doesn't go well and even keep them in the loop.

It seems HP could test their platforms but I suppose obsolescence is part of their business plan.

@agbai,

You definitely can beta test W11 on your HP Envy AIO 34.

I would like to invite an expert HP Forum member, @Paul_Tikkanen, to provide the best information we as a Forum can provide.
