@TranceGuru,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Your HP Pavilion 500-319na Desktop PC (G9B00EA) cannot be upgraded with a Windows 11 eligible processor, but that shouldn't stop you from upgrading your PC to Windows 11.

You see, a number of reliable and effective methods have been developed which would allow you to almost effortlessly upgrade your so-called "unsupported device" to Windows 11, such as this easy-to-follow YouTube instructional video shows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSrmhhigEhY&t=332s&ab_channel=Tips2Fix.

This method uses a clever Microsoft (Server) backdoor Windows 11 install method.

This works great: I have used it myself on a number of legacy HP desktops without any issues whatsoever.

In the off-chance you don't like W11, you have 10 days to roll back to Windows 10. After 10 days, unless you follow the steps outlined in this instructional video, you may need to do a fresh install of Windows 10. Either way, this video will show you what to do: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2v9_-4JCh_U&ab_channel=Tips2Fix.

@TranceGuru,

Bonus: the best available processor for your PC is the legendary i7-4790K, aptly called the "Devil's Canyon".

You can buy this processor pretty inexpensively these days, such as this eBay-UK purchase option for 40 quid -for as long as it lasts: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/297433340079?_skw=i7-4790K&epid=222768395&itmmeta=01JYSZVW824CYE8DD78QPEC....

Hi NonSequitur777

Followed the instructions in the video you sent me a link to for upgrading to Windows 11. Success, superb! I did watch the video about 3 times before installing and paused it at stages just to make sure I didn't make a mess of it. Even so, for a non tech savvy person like myself, relatively straight forward. I thought that running fancy new software the PC might slow down but it has noticeably picked up a little speed. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
