Hi all
I have a generic usb to serial adapter which is giving me problems when connecting a scale using serial comms. The serial port tends to freeze each time I log out of the scale software. I have to restart the PC for me to be able to connect to the port again. If I run a serial test app like comtest serial, the scale software does the same thing and I have to restart the PC. The hardware id for the adapter is : USB/VID_1A86&PID_7523&REV_0254. The scale software vendor suggested that the installed driver is not the correct one. I can't seem to find one that works on Windows 11. Any ideas?

Hi:
See if this works:
I have zipped up and attached a W11 driver I found on the Microsoft Update Catalog website.
You will have to manually install the driver.
Unzip the file to its folder.
Do not do anything with the files in the folder.
Go to the device manager.
Click on the USB/VID_1A86&PID_7523&REV_0254 device needing the driver.
Click on the driver tab. Click on Update driver.
Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option and browse to the driver folder that you unzipped.
Make sure that the Include subfolders box is checked and hopefully the driver will install.
The driver folder does not contain the hardware ID for &REV_0254, but it does have the base ID, as shown in this partial copy and paste of the driver setup information file:
DriverVer = 02/11/2023, 3.8.2023.02
[Manufacturer]
%WinChipHead% = WinChipHead,NT,NTamd64,NTia64,NTARM64

Thanks Paul,
But this one won't install. Its only accepting the old one (CH340) and won't pick up the CH341.
I am thinking of trying the PCI exress card instead. Id: PCI\VEN_1C00&DEV_3250&SUBSYS_32501C00&REV_10. Is there a windows 11 driver for this?

You're very welcome.
Sorry that driver didn't work.
I found this site that has a zip file that indicates it is good for the CH341:
CH341SER.ZIP - NanjingQinhengMicroelectronics (wch-ic.com)
For the PCI\VEN_1C00&DEV_3250&SUBSYS_32501C00 device, I have zipped up and attached the driver file you need for that below.
You will have to try manually installing it like the other one.
Here is a partial copy and paste of the driver setup information file which shows driver support for the hardware ID you posted:
