Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a desktop HP Pavilion23 All-In-One. The System ID is "2B0D", BIOS date "06/21/2018', BIOS version "80.21".  The BIOS recognizes any size of RAM but Windows only installs up to 2GB. I install Windows normally with 2GB but when I add more RAM it stops at the Windows entry and hangs. When I try to install with RAM greater than 2GB it also doesn't install. Lock everything. I've also tried installing Windows 11 and it doesn't even start the installation with 2GB because it requires at least 4GB. When I add more RAM, it also crashes and won't install. Please, can anyone help me? I want to use 8GB of RAM and I can't. Windows 10 with 2GB is very slow!!!!

Thanks in advance if you can help me with this.

I understand you have 2gb memory that works.

You added 8gb of memory for a total of 10 but only 2 show up in windows

It is likely the additional memory is not compatible.

Please run the following two commands  and report back what they show.

Bring up the windows command prompt and make sure it is in administrator mode.

wmic memorychip get devicelocator, capacity, speed, MemoryType, formfactor, partnumber, manufacturer

wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx, MemoryDevices

Should look something like this

BeemerBiker_0-1714085048365.jpeg

I need to see both of the memory sticks.   if necessary, put in the 2gb

first then remove the 2 and put in the 8gb.

if the 8gb cannot be displayed like above then post the part number or a link to to where you bought it so I can see what type it is.

pavilion 23 is not a useful name.  There is no way that I can find the correct memory.

Please provide the Product ID or Model name for better assistance. Preferably the full product ID including the characters after the # symbol. This code may be needed to find cloud recovery files.

Hi, BeemerBiker. Thank you for attention!
The Product ID of my All-In-One is QZ282AA#AC4.
Image follow shows the information obtained from running the commands with 2GB:

I can’t run the commands with 8GB because Windows don’t install. Remember? then,
I'm sending photos of the memory chips (2x 4GB) specifications:

I must say that the System recognizes this 8GB memory (see below). The problem is that Windows don't recognizes and don't install as well.

You can see the HP BIOS System Information just bellow...

Your 4gb memory needs to be rank 2Rx8 and you have 1Rx8

according to https://partsurfer.hp.com/partsurfer/?searchtext=QZ282AA your 4g memory is

656290-D0B
Memory - SODIMM, 4GB, PC3-12800, CL11, dPC, BZ

This is the 2gb that works, it is 2Rx8

BeemerBiker_0-1714181085192.png

Your 4g memory is 1Rx8 and is not compatible

BeemerBiker_1-1714181185301.png

something like this

https://www.ebay.com/itm/276422054203

8GB (2x4GB) PC3-12800s DDR3-1600MHz 2Rx8

see if you can return the 1Rx8 and get 2Rx8
