HP Pavilion p6230f Desktop PC
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have an HP-P6230F desktop computer running Windows 7 which is quite old, although I've added more RAM and replaced the HDD with an SSD. So far, I've resisted upgrading to Windows 8, 10 or 11, but since Windows 7 is no longer being supported by most software companies (and support for Windows 8 will probably start to disappear soon too), is it possible to upgrade it to Windows 10 or 11? Or are the hardware, BIOS, and drivers just too old?

@David453 , welcome to the Community.

The best way to know if your computer will run one of the newer operating systems is check the system requirements for each of them.  Here are the system requirements for Win 10.  According to the requirements it appears that your system should run Win 10.  It will not run Win 11 because it requires TPM and Secure Boot to operate properly: System Firmware and TPM: Unlike Windows 11, Windows 10 does not require UEFI, Secure Boot, or TPM by default. ...

I've already checked the requirements for Windows 10, and I believe the HP-P6230F meets them. I was hoping that someone who actually owns an HP-P6230F could confirm that, before I take the chance of screwing everything up.

EDIT: It's also a matter of not wanting to waste several hours of my time, just to find out there's some obscure compatibility issue. So if anyone has actually installed Windows 10 on an HP-P6230F, please let me know.

Thank you for the additional information, @David453!

If it were me, I would buy an inexpensive HDD and do the install on it.  Disconnect your current drive while doing the install.  This way you will not damage any of the information on it.
