Microsoft Windows 11

So the wireless HP mouse and keyboard that come with my all in one desktop are not working. If I remove the USB dongle (I hope that is the correct name for it) and put it back in I get an error saying "The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."

Is this a software/driver issue, or is it a hardware issue? I tired to download that latest drivers from the HP site, and I still get the error. It is quite a nice white keyboard and mouse, so I would like to keep it if possible. Right now I have an old wired  keyboard and mouse plugged into the USB ports, and they are working.  Thanks!

The best test would be to plug the wireless usb dongle into another PC with the same operating system to determine if the keyboard and mouse it was delivered with are working.

If they don't work that troubleshooting effort will assure you in knowing  that the set is faulty or working.

The error message you described does say that there is a malfunction in the dongle.
