Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,  I have been having intermittent issues with my wireless logitech mouse on this new HP Desktop with Windows 11.  I have tried multiple wireless mice and continue to have issues.  When I use a hardwired mouse it appears to be much better.  I have used these wireless products on my old HP machine with no issues of lag or latency.  I have tried many of the suggestions on various forums but nothing seems to work.  I am starting to believe it is a Windows 11 issue.  Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi @pchieco,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Dealing with wireless mouse issues can be frustrating, but let's try to troubleshoot and resolve the problem step-by-step.

Check Wireless Receiver and Mouse Batteries

  • Receiver Placement: Ensure the wireless receiver is plugged into a USB port that's not obstructed or too far from the mouse. Direct line-of-sight can sometimes improve connection.
  • Batteries: Replace the batteries in your wireless mouse, even if they seem to have charge. Low battery power can cause intermittent connection problems.

Update Drivers and Firmware

  • Mouse Drivers: Ensure your Logitech mouse drivers are up to date. Sometimes, Windows Update doesn't always provide the latest drivers, so visiting Logitech's website for the latest drivers specific to your mouse model might help.
  • Receiver Firmware: Some wireless receivers have firmware updates that can improve connectivity. Check Logitech's support site or the software that came with your mouse for any updates.

Interference and Signal Quality

  • Wireless Interference: Other wireless devices (Wi-Fi routers, Bluetooth devices) can interfere with your mouse's signal. Try turning off other wireless devices temporarily to see if the issue improves.
  • Signal Quality: Wireless mice can sometimes suffer from signal degradation over long distances or through physical obstacles. Ensure there are no obstructions between your mouse and the receiver.

Power Management Settings

  • USB Selective Suspend: Windows may be turning off the USB port to save power, which can interrupt the mouse signal. To disable this feature:
    • Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings (for your selected plan) > Change advanced power settings.
    • Expand USB settings and set "USB selective suspend setting" to "Disabled".

Test on Another Computer

  • Isolation Test: Try using your wireless mouse on another computer, preferably one running a different operating system. This can help determine if the issue is specific to your Windows 11 setup or if it's a hardware problem with the mouse or receiver.

Additional Tips:

  • Check Windows Updates: Ensure your Windows 11 installation is fully up to date. Sometimes, updates can include fixes for connectivity issues.
  • USB Ports: Try different USB ports on your HP Desktop. Some ports may provide a more stable connection than others.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
