Rehooking up computer after time away from it and mouse not working. The mouse is wireless and I see no USB in mouse. Also, looked at online troubleshooting and some mouses have batteries but I cannot get the top off to see the inside and don't want to break it. I cannot even remember if it has batteries. Im very dumb when it comes to computers and it never occurred to me to commit to memory how the mouse connects, if it has batteries, etc... I called the tech support and HP wanted to charge me $49 today to sign up for help. Maybe Im old but why should I have to pay $50 for what is probably a simple fix??? I hung up on him. Maybe someone could help me here? Thank you so much.

Hello
Indeed the first thing to check are the batteries
if the computer has not worked for a while, either they are hs, or there may not be
you usually have two options opening from below, a cover, like many devices ..
sometimes it's the top part
