I'm getting very frustraed. I have an HP SK-2061 wireless keyboard but cannot find a manual for it as I need to change its battery. I don't want to risk breaking the casing by forcing the wrong piece open. Why isn't such informaton readily available and / or searchable?!

Changing the Battery in HP SK-2061 Wireless Keyboard

If you're having trouble finding the manual for the HP SK-2061 wireless keyboard and need to change its battery, here are some general steps that might help. Wireless keyboards typically have a battery compartment on the back or underneath the keyboard:

Locate the Battery Compartment:

  • Flip the keyboard over to check the underside for a battery compartment cover.
  • It may be a small rectangular section or a latch that can be slid open.

Opening the Compartment:

  • Look for any small grooves or tabs indicating how to open the battery compartment.
  • If it's a sliding cover, gently push in the direction indicated by any arrows or symbols.

Replace the Battery:

  • Use the appropriate battery type as indicated on the label inside the compartment (usually AA or AAA).
  • Ensure the new battery is installed with the correct polarity.

Secure the Compartment:

  • Once the battery is installed, securely close the compartment back in place.
  • Listen for a click or snap to ensure that it is properly sealed.

I can see the cover. I prodded and pushed it in all directions but couldn't shift it. I had to prize it off with a screwdriver hoping I didn't break anything. Any sensible set of instructions would include a diagram to show in which direction to push down then along. If you're an HP employee, it's obvious. If you change the batteries once in 5-10 yeas, it's not something you remember how to do.
