HP 220 wireless keyboard randomly stops writing as I'm typing.
I've changed the battery and relocated the USB device for no help.

Hi @Jonlits
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
I understand how frustrating it must feel when the keyboard suddenly stops responding mid‑typing, and I appreciate the effort you’ve already taken by changing the battery and repositioning the USB receiver.
Let’s walk through a few more steps together to bring back smooth, uninterrupted typing:
USB Port Check
Try connecting the wireless receiver to a different USB port on your computer. Preferably use a port directly on the computer rather than through a hub or docking station, as this ensures a stronger connection.
Distance and Interference
Place the keyboard within a few feet of the receiver and ensure there are no large metal objects or other wireless devices (like routers or cordless phones) between them that could interfere with the signal.
Driver Refresh
In Windows, open Device Manager, expand “Keyboards,” right‑click the HP Wireless Keyboard entry, and select “Uninstall device.” Then restart your computer; Windows will automatically reinstall the driver, refreshing the connection.
USB Power Settings
Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings. Under “USB settings,” expand “USB selective suspend setting” and set it to “Disabled.” This prevents Windows from putting the USB receiver into a low‑power state that can interrupt typing.
Test on Another Computer
If possible, connect the keyboard and receiver to another Windows PC. This helps confirm whether the issue is with the keyboard or the original computer’s settings.
With these adjustments, the keyboard should feel more responsive and reliable, letting you type without interruptions.
