So recently I found my first desktop that I ever bought new and I was wondering if I could upgrade the cpu and gpu if i put a new mother board in it. This pc has a lot of sentimental value to me and i would like to be able to keep it for a long time.

@Grognak999 , welcome to the forum.

We do get attached to our computers.  I wish that I still had my first computer which was an Apple McIntosh in 1985.

The problem that you may have upgrading the motherboard is, HP has their motherboards made to their specifications.  This means they are not necessarily the same as a retail board.  The problem could be the holes in the motherboard won't match the stand-offs in your case.  I suggest that you choose a motherboard manufacturer and contact their Tech Support for help.  They are the experts on their products and should be able to tell you if they have a board that will work.  If you find a motherboard, upgrading the CPU and GPU should not be a problem.
