Hello,
I have a Compaq Presario CQ5300F 64-bit desktop that came with 2 GB of Ram and 320 GB Hard Drive. I expanded the ram to 4 GB a few years ago, but it's still slow. I would like to expand the RAM with more memory and a larger hard drive. Is it possible since it is 64 bit?
Thanks

It ONLY supports up to 4GB
- Dual channel memory architecture
- Two DDR2 DIMM (240-pin) sockets
- Supported DIMM types:
- PC2-5300 (667 MHz)
- PC2-6400 (800 MHz)
- Non-ECC memory only, unbuffered
- Supports 2GB DDR2 DIMMs
- Supports up to 4 GB*
Crucial also says it only supports 4GB

Thank you for your answer.
I thought that because it was a 64-bit, not a 32-bit, I would be able to expand the memory. Then a friend told me that it only has a single-core processor and 4 GB was the max, also that downgrading from Win7 64-bit to 32-bit would improve the speed. I installed the Win7 32-bit OS and it improved the performance. It's not very fast but it is an improvement.
