Microsoft Windows 11

I am desperately trying to figure out how to upgrade the GPU of my hp 590 p0081c desktop so that I can play Baldur's Gate 3.

Even with the settings on low, and optimized through AMD, I'm just barely getting 15 FPS, which is excruciating.

My computer has 310 PSU, and runs with Radeon rx 550 graphics card. Any recommendations for an upgraded card/psu?

@Peace2cat,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Your HP Pavilion 590-p0081c (3LC16AA) is fitted with a Lincs motherboard (SSID: 843B), which according to: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Knowledge-Base/Power-Supply-Cross-Reference-for-specific-model..., can be upgraded with either a 400-watt power supply (p/n: L04618-800) or a 500-watt power supply (p/n: L05757-800):

With a 400-watt power supply you can upgrade your desktop up to an HP (or Dell-) branded RTX 3060 12GB graphics card, and with the 500-watt power supply, you can go up to an HP (or Dell-) branded RTX 3060 Ti.

The aforementioned power supplies and the GPUs can be purchased reasonably priced via eBay.

If interested, I could give you some suggestions.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

Thank you so much! You're a lifesaver. I will definitely check out ebay for your recommendations!

Also, quick question: those PSUs you recommended would fit in my PCs casing?

Okay so I just checked out the TI graphics card specs and they say recommended wattage is 650. If I upgraded to the 500 PSU, would it be enough? Or am I back to square one?

@Peace2cat,

Not to worry: I run an HP-branded RTX 3060 12GB powered by an HP 400-watt power supply in an HP ProDesk 600 G4 MT, and you can easily power a Dell/HP RTX 3060 Ti with the 500-watt power supply.  Please note, that this card's TDP is only 200-watt, and only requires one (1) 8-pin PCIe power cable: Dell RTX 3060 Ti LHR OEM Specs | TechPowerUp GPU Database.

You are good to go!
