As for SSD, would like to know which type of SSD should I buy. Does this model’s motherboard support m2/ m.2 SVMe or should I go for the 2.5inch SATA? What are the recommended options that are compatible.

Similarly, for DDR3 memory I understand that I can upgrade upto 16 GB DDR3 on 64bit system. So which brand is recommended for an additional 8 GB memory, which I am looking to buy.

@AjayS2179,

Simple first:

If you can find this HP part number 698657-154 for another 8GB RAM module, it will be simple to add it to the vacant slot, as it is best to install matching pairs.

SSD:

There is no M.2 socket 3 SSD slot.  You could use a 2.5" SSD, that will require you to plug it in, and then slide the drive cage over-top the SSD, taking care not to move the SSD. You will need  flat washer(s) to keep the mounting screw(s) in place.

Hello
your pc HP Pavilion 23-q141in TouchSmart All-in-One Desktop PC Product Specifications
and the motherboard:

Crane-2G motherboard specifications.
There is only one M2 wlan connector!
So it is only possible to install a SATA SSD!
You can try the SCAN here:

Welcome to Crucial USA
I installed without problem a sata SSD on an old HP

https://www.crucial.com/ssd/mx500/CT500MX500SSD1

But you are free to try another brand.
We cannot guarantee the compatibility of a particular model.
For the memory if it is an addition you will need an identical model preferably
it is mentioned (to be checked):
Amount: 8 GB
Speed: PC3-12800 MB / s
Type: DDR3-1600

____________________________

  • Dual channel memory architecture
  • Two 204-pin DDR3L SODIMM sockets
  • Supports up to PC3L-12800 (DDR3L-1600)
  • Supports 2 GB, 4 GB, and 8 GB SODIMMs
  • Supports up to 4 GB on 32-bit systems
    note:
32-bit systems cannot address a full 4.0 GB of memory.
  • Supports up to 16 GB (unbuffered) on 64-bit systems
    note:
Maximum memory shown reflects the capability of the hardware and can be limited further in the operating system.

Sometimes you have to buy new models because the one in place could be incompatible with the new one!
So test with addition, it can pass, and if not the case you will have to buy the same!
