Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello! I am working on upgrading my PC and was wondering if I am able to upgrade, (or if my motherboard can handle upgrading), my processor and graphics card. I also was wondering if the BIOS could be upgrated as well, I don't see any option for overclocking. Any help or suggestions on finding better ones is greatly appreciated.

My PC is an: HP Pavilion 590-p0103wb

Thank you for your time!

Hi

Your PC's BIOS does not support overclocking.

Avoid any HP BIOS update offered by Windows Update or possibly HP Support Assistant at all costs. Windows update has been offering a potentially irreversible BIOS update for your motherboard that causes system instability.

This is the only, approved, HP BIOS download available for your PC https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-pavilion-desktop-pc-590-p0000a/1939050...

I can give you some upgrading tips. It depends on what you want to do with the PC.

You can improve performance but there are limits if you are looking at playing newer AAA games on high resolution monitors at high refresh rates.

The following upgrade options are available:

CPU, your MB supports up to a Ryzen 7 2700 65W TDP processor using the factory BIOS. See link below for details.

Memory, you can add more memory. You have two DDR4 DIMM sockets. It looks like you have one 8GB DIMM now. HP is giving conflicting info on the maximum amount of memory you can run, see here https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05939208

One section states two 8GB DDR4-2400 DIMMS, the other section shows 32 GB total memory supported? I would check Crucial Memory for memory upgrade options https://www.crucial.com/products/memory?cm_re=homepage-_-main-body-_-us-buy-memory-button It is suggested to install memory modules in pairs to get the best results.

The graphics card upgrade is more involved. You will have to upgrade the factory 180 watt power supply to run a better graphics card. Your power supply is proprietary. You have to use a HP part. The maximum power supply for your PC is a HP 500 watt part. I don't know if HP is selling this part at this time. I think the part number is L05757-800 Power Supply - GNRC PSU 500W ENT17 FR GLD. Maybe a different forum member can verify this.

Check the HP parts store for power supply upgrade options https://parts.hp.com/hppartsIGSO/Default.aspx?mscssid=DA31A20667CB4037978D9E0F4E33DCE4

Or try eBay.

You could probably do a dual slot 9.5 inch to a possible 10 inch graphics card in the case. You should measure to check this. The graphics card upgrade is limited to a 500 watt recommended power supply.

Sorry for being long winded but you can do a M.2 2280 NVME drive in your PC. This will speed things up. Or replace the HDD with a 2.5 inch SATA SSD.

I'm not talking about the rest, but yes, I confirm, that's what I advise everyone in this case!

Part is not orderable in the HP Parts Store.
Power Supply - GNRC PSU 500W ENT17 FR GLD

It is generally necessary to search with the reference via google, ebay, amazon etc.
