Hello community I was just wondering if a

HyperX FURY Series 4GB DDR3 1866MHz CL10 DIMM Memory Module

Would work with an HP PRO 6200?

Hi:

I don't believe it will (I don't think it would go back 3 clock speeds), and even if it did, the memory is only going to run at 1333 MHz.

BTW, your PC can take 4 x 8 GB of PC3-10600 memory, so unless there is a specific reason why you only want to install a 4 GB chip in your PC, you may as well install 2 x 8 GB of memory.

I used this brand in my HP 8200 Elite CMT, which is basically the upscale model of the 6200 Pro.

Here is the 8 GB flavor...

Here is the 4 GB flavor...

Thanks for the information! I'll probably decide to get the 8gb you recommended

You're very welcome.

Since the 8 GB is a little bit more than twice as much as the 4 GB chip, I bought 2, confirmed they worked, and then bought two more later on to max out the machine.

In order for the memory to run in DDR mode, the memory has to be installed in matched pairs.

For example:  If you install the 2 x 8 GB of memory in slots 1 and 3, you have to install a matching pair of memory in slots 2 and 4, or remove the memory from slots 2 and 4.

Again for example, you could install 2 x 4 GB in slots 2 and 4 or 2 x 2 GB in slots 2 and 4, or have no memory in slots 2 and 4.

Paul,

I have been running several versions of Linux on two HP Compaq 6200 pro SFF computers. Every time I attempt to install two 8gb ram sticks the computers fail to boot and the main cooling fan runs up to full speed. Is there a bios setting needed to install any ram bigger than 4gb in these machines ?

Hi:

No BIOS settings need to be changed to add memory to your PC.

You must be using incompatible memory.

4 x 8 GB of PC3-10600, non-ECC, unbuffered, low density, 1.5V.

one set of 8gb sticks was Patriot Signature pc3 10600 . these were advertized on Amazon to fit the HP Compaq 6200 pro sff computer. They were ssent back and exchanged for a pair of 8gb PC3 10600. These also caused the same reaction; no boot and over reving the main cooling fan.

Both brands were were non ECC unbuffered. I can put in as many 4gb sticks as I want even a pair of PC3 12800 4gb kingstons alongside a pair of 4gb hynix pc3 10600 sticks.

The second set was A-Teck
