My Xw8600 workstation (32 GB, dual quadcore CPU) has a Nvidia Quadro FX 3700. I recently upgraded it to Win 10 Pro but the driver I downloaded from Nvidia's site which was supposed to be Win 10 compatible crashes the computer. Windows Update tries to install its own driver but that also crashes the computer.
Do I need another graphics card and what do you recommend? Nothing hardcore, just a decent one. Thx.

Welcome to our HP User Forum!
Disclaimer: obtaining product specification/information directly from HP was difficult to come by. However, whilst researching to respond to your inquiry, according to: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/690533/Hp-Xw8600.html, your HP Xw8600 Workstation is fitted with either an 800 watt power supply, p/n: 444096-001 ("POWER SUPPLY, xw8600, 800W, 80Plus") or an 1050 watt power supply, p/n: 442038-001 ("Power supply (1,050 Watt) - Wide ranging, active power factor corrected - With 80% efficient rating, Energy Star 4.0 - Has a second PCI Express auxiliary connector").
-Knowing what power supply is fitted in your workstation helped.
Condensing: going through real-life HP Xw8600 workstation Users here: UserBenchmark: HP xw8600 Workstation Compatible Components, the following graphics cards were documented to be compatible with Windows 10 and showed decent graphics performances.
Mind you, I looked for budget friendly -used- purchase options from 'trusted' eBay Sellers. Of course, I invite you to check/verify any links I am providing below. New graphics cards are often way overpriced. Please note that purchasing used computer parts carries inherent risks which you will have to assume.
Anyway, here are some GPUs that, as best as I could ascertain, probably meet your expectations:
Nvidia RTX 2060-S (used) for $256 from: https://www.ebay.com/itm/203995541289?epid=27030517402&hash=item2f7f14ef29%3Ag%3A8mUAAOSwIYFiqmKh&LH...

Yes, there are certainly lower-end cards that would work with Windows 10.
I could not ascertain that the Nvidia Quadro K2000D (average graphics performance 7.7%) would be compatible with Windows 10 -though it is likely it would be based on the fact that the following Nvidia Quadro graphics cards are compatible with W10 AND are equipped with a DVI port (followed by their average graphics performance score):
Nvidia Quadro K2000 - 7.6%
Nvidia Quadro FX 5800 - 8.4%
Nvidia Quadro K4000 - 13.1%
Nvidia Quadro K2200 - 17.3%
Nvidia Quadro K5000 - 22%
Hope this was helpful.
