HP Z2 Mini G4 Performance

Which is the maximum processor TDP the Z2 Mini G4 with HP 8458 motherboard supports? 95w?

It will support 127w processor?

The i9-9900KS is supported?

Below is the link to the HP Z2 Mini G4 Workstation QuickSpecs:

The list of supported processors can be found on pages 9 & 10.

@mjnesteves,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Your HP Z2 Mini G4 Workstation is compatible with ALL Intel Core 8th and 9th gen processors, including the i7-8086K, i7-8700K, i7-9700K/F and the i9-9900K/F processors.

You can find these processors installed here amongst fellow HP System Z2 Mini G4 Workstation Users: https://www.userbenchmark.com/System/HP-Z2-Mini-G4-Workstation/94124.

Even though I was able to successfully install the mighty i9-9900KS in my HP EliteDesk 800 G5 SFF (see: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Upgrading-HP-EliteDesk-800-G5-S...), that may not be the case for your HP Z2 Mini G4 Workstation -though I would be surprised if your PC doesn't let you.

If your PC was my upgrade project, I would certainly try it!

However, being able to install an i9-9900KS does not necessarily mean you should do it, unless you find a way to substantially improve the CPU cooling like I did on my PC due to the much higher TDP.

Kind Regards,

Thank you for your fast reply @Paul_Tikkanen!

So, the list on that document do not list all supported processors! The i5-9600KF, i7-9700KF and i9-9900KF according to user benchmark are supported processors too.

Since the i9-9900KS has a TDP of 127w, there is my question, the limit is 95w?

@mjnesteves,

To be honest, the UNOFFICIAL TDP limit on your motherboard is most likely 150-watt -though I am not supposed to know that.
