Hello HP Experts,
I need help with the following questions/doubts for my Z400 Workstation.
Q1 Does Z400 Workstation support or will work with a Non ECC Unbuffered RAM as long as it is DDR3 1333 Mhz ?
-Base on the links below :
Page 8 and 9
Only unbuffered DDR3 DIMMs are supported
http://www.bargainhardware.co.uk/content/specifications/z400_datasheet.pdf
Page 2
http://file.e-disti.com/new_z400_datasheet.pdf
It only says ECC Unbuffered RAM is supported, but I want to get confirmation just incase we can use a non ECC RAM
I also found this in forums
z400 - 6 slot memory configut=ration
Please confirm.
Q2 The Z400 Workstation I have is with 6-DIMM slots and Intel Xeon processor W3505, 2.53 GHz, 4 MB cache, 1066 MHz memory, 4.8GT/s QPI, Dual-Core:
-What is the maximum capacity per DIMM slot/Memory slot? I noticed on the documents I found below that the maximum per slot is 4GB? Please confirm if more than 4GB per stick is still supported ? Ex. 1 stick of 8GB

-Also I want to confirm the Memory Speed Supported are 800 MHz, 1066 MHz and 1333 MHz DDR3? how about more than 1333 MHz? example this 1 stick of 8GB DDR3-1600 is this supported in Z400 Workstation ?
Some one is trying to sell me this "1 stick 8GB DDR3-1600 ECC Unbuffered DIMM CL11 2Rx8 1.5V Kingston F Die (Server Premier) 8GB 2Rx8 PC3-12800E-11-12-E3" not sure if this is supported but he said that he got it from a Z400 worksation.
Q3 Is Nvidia Geforce gtx 550ti oc edition 1gb 192bit ddr5 compatible with Z400 Workstation ? I can't find compatible matrix or reference saying its compatible please confirm.
Q4 Currently I have Intel Xeon Processor W3505 2.53 GHz, 4MB cache, 1066 memory, 4.8GT/s QPI, Dual-Core and as per the document below are the available processor for Z400 Workstation:

Intel® Xeon® Processor W3503 2.40 GHz, 4MB cache, 1066 memory, 4.8GT/s QPI, Dual-Core
Intel Xeon Processor W3505 2.53 GHz, 4MB cache, 1066 memory, 4.8GT/s QPI, Dual-Core
Intel Xeon Processor W3520 2.66 GHz, 8MB cache, 1066 memory, 4.8 GT/s QPI, Quad-Core, HT, Turbo
Intel Xeon Processor W3550 3.06 GHz, 8MB cache, 1066 memory, 4.8 GT/s QPI, Quad-Core, HT, Turbo
Intel Xeon Processor W3565 3.20 GHz, 8MB cache, 1066 memory, 4.8 GT/s QPI, Quad-Core, HT, Turbo
Intel Xeon Processor W3670 3.20 GHz, 12MB cache, 1066 memory, 4.8 GT/s QPI, Six-Core, HT, Turbo
Intel Xeon Processor W3680 3.33 GHz, 12MB cache, 1333 memory, 6.4 GT/s QPI, Six-Core, HT, Turbo
Intel Xeon Processor W3690 3.46 GHz, 12MB cache, 1333 memory, 6.4 GT/s QPI, Six-Core, HT, Turbo
Is it okay if i'll purchase or just replace my processor with the latest/fastest processor for the HP Z400, Intel Xeon Processor W3690 3.46 GHz, 12MB cache, 1333 memory, 6.4 GT/s QPI, Six-Core, HT, Turbo? without changing motherboard ?
Please confirm thanks in advance.

Thanks for the answer.
But what can you say about this topic from forums :
z400 - 6 slot memory configut=ration
Its seems that non ECC will work with Z400..
Then regarding if my Nvidia Geforce gtx 550ti oc edition 1gb 192bit ddr5 is it compatible with Z400 Workstation ?
Thanks in Advance

Hello, I am in need of some help, I am a new user of the HP Z400, I recently acquired a memory of 8GB ECC each bank. But I'm discovering that it only supports 4gb. Is there any BIOS update that allows you to use 8gb dimm's? thank you very much.
I apologize for my English, which is very bad. I am from Argentina.

Hi, due to lack of time I still can not work on the z400, with the version of BIOS v.3.10 that it has currently not working, but I want to update to v3.61 to do the test again.
