I recently purchased a z420 workstation. I was looking at some youtube videos and noticed I might be missing the Workstation Air Shroud Assembly. Did all of the Z420 workstations come with this or did some have them and some did not?
This is the item and fits over the memory modules.

Hi:
Enter the product number of your PC in the box at the link below.
http://partsurfer.hp.com/search.aspx
That should give you the list of parts that came with your workstations specific product number.
The product number can be found on the same label as the serial number.

Thank You, here is my page

But isn't this just a general parts list? I do not know if I need to get one or not.

You're very welcome.
Yes, it appears to be a general parts list.
I'm looked on eBay and I saw pictures of the inside chassis of a few, and none of the ones I looked at have that memory cover.
So, it must not be that important.
None of my HP business desktop tower PC's have such a thing.
Here is one such photo I looked at...

Yes it is very confusing. Most of the youtube videos had the memory air shroud but not all. One review when the guy first opened the case up it DID NOT have it and later on when he showed it DID have it.
And I cannot find any information online whether it supposed to have it or not.
Thanks again

Anytime.
Let's put it this way...if you are willing to spend the least amount of money (looks like $30) you can get the shroud for, installing it can't hurt.
It will direct the air flow from the fans in the case over the memory, rather than the memory catching the air flow as catch can.
That will result in better cooling of the memory modules.
I would call it a luxury, not a necessity.
