z620
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I currently have an HP Z620 Workstation with 2 Intel Xeon E5-2670, 64gb DDR 3, 2x SSD SATA and 1x HDD 5400RPM SATA with 1x RTX 2080 and Power Supply 800W.

I want to add another graphic card, 1x RTX 2080 Super.

My question is with this power supply Is it enough? If not, what power supply could you use and if possible change it?

Thanks!

@jrricote , welcome to the forum.

Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for the workstation.  On Pages 28 and 29 is a list of the components in the workstation.  The power supply unit (PSU) in your workstation is 800W.  This is considerably more than required for the RTX 2080 Super at 650W.  However, the 2080 requires 1x6-pin and 1x8-pin supplemental power connectors.  Look at the tab titled "SPECS" in the link that I provided.

I suggest that you choose a manufacturer of the RTX 2080 Super and contact their Tech Support to assure that their card will be compatible with your motherboard.  Each manufacturer has their own little tweaks that they add to the models.  I know of instances where high-end cards didn't work in HP motherboards.

Hi @Old_geekster, thanks for the welcome. I think I have not expressed myself well, I'm sorry.

I meant having 2 RTX inside the z620. In the end, for everything I've read in the forum, someone already asked about having two GTX 1080ti, and although the G1 and G2 cables can give enough energy to each of the 2 cards, the power supply would be a bit fair even if it was removed one of the 2 E5-2670 processors.

Then there would be the refrigeration issue that I don't know if it would be enough for the cards, so I need another PC, I think I'll try to get a Z820 of 1125W.

Thank you for your help, before getting a z820 I will check that it is compatible with the card I bought. For now the RTX 2080 that I have works on my z620, so I imagine that the RTX 2080 Super would have to work too, but you never know.

You are welcome, @jrricote!

Thank you for the followup on your situation.  I believe that your solution to buy a Z820 is a good one.  The 1125W PSU should certainly work with two 2080's.
