Hi guys - Quick and easy one.
I know the z800 has the 850w and 1250w psu variants and the z820 has the 850w and 1450w variants. But are the z800 and z820 psu's interchangable?
Will the z800 psu work in the z820 in a pinch? Has anyone confirmed or tried? I know rail voltages and internal workings could be different but the form factor is identical so just looking for a devfinitive yes/no as to whether it will actually work or not.
The PSU i was hoping to use in a z820 was the DPS-1050DB A (HP P/N: 480794-003)

in theory yes the z820 could work in a z800 (but not the other way z800 to z820) but there would be some rewiring involved
and the power supplies connector(s) that mate with the chassis may not line up
so the practical answer is no, the supplies are not interchangeable
also, workstation related questions should be posted in the workstation forum (even hardware related ones)
