Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP z800, 96 Gb, dual Xenon x5660.

I'm trying to install a Geoforce RTX 3060, but all I get is six beeps at POST. I have an AMD FirePro 8100 that does the exact same behavior. Both cards do the same in either 16-slot.

I also have an NVIDIA Quadro k600 that works fine in either slot.

The RTX and the 8100 have both worked in the past. The RTX was just purchased in October 2024. The FirePro was the original card the workstation came with.

Anyone have any ideas to get the RTX up and running? I've not verified the cards in another computer. That's my next step unless someone has a better idea.

Thanks

Charles

@Bankwalker1,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Make sure that your HP Z800 Workstation got the latest BIOS update: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/hp-z800-workstation/3718645.

Also make sure that your RTX 3060 is mounted correctly (reseat!) into a PCIe x16 motherboard slot and is powered by a PCIe 8-pin power cable. If possible, try a different PCIe 8-pin power cable too.

Try clearing your CMOS and see if this enables you to boot up into BIOS.

If you are successful, make sure that Legacy mode is enabled and secure boot is disabled.

If this fails, try your RTX 3060 into a different PC like you mentioned, in order to make sure it is not defective.

Kind Regards,
