Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

I would like to upgrade the CPU for this computer.

The processor that I have right now is Intel Core 2 6320.  When I search the web for that, one search result is Intel's website and I was able to find the E6320.  I am not sure if that's the same thing as mine.

https://ark.intel.com/products/29754/Intel-Core-2-Duo-Processor-E6320-4M-Cache-1-86-GHz-1066-MHz-FSB...

This page seems to indicate that I have a 64 bit processor.  I always thought I had a 32 bit processor because I think I originally had 32 bit Vista and then I installed 32 bit Windows 8.1.

In the user manual for the motherboard, it says, "The motherboard comes with a surface mount LGA775 socket designed for
the Intel ® Pentium ® 4 and Conroe processor in the 775-land package."

I searched the web and found a page on toms hardware that said that the best processor that the motherboard will support is the E6700.  This, too, looks like a 64 bit processor.

I see that on Ebay, there are a lot of these processors available from China.  Are those processors maybe counterfeit or that's highly unlikely?

If I can switch to 64 bit, are there other things that I have to do beside install a 64 bit operating system?  For example, any changes to/with the BIOS?

@Silverthunder,

Your system OS is 32bit.  A 64 bit processor does not matter.

CPU chips per your board does support the E6x00 chip.

This system is feedback driven thru Solution and Kudo flags. It's the only means of knowing if you have been served. Please click Accept as Solution, if your problem is solved. To say THANK YOU, press the "thumbs up symbol" to render a KUDO. You can render both Solution and KUDO..
