How to add an nvidia graphics card to  ENVY Desktop PC TE01-4000i

@drjury,

Welcome to our HP community forum!

Is the question "how" or "what" to add a Nvidia GPU in your HP ENVY Desktop PC TE01-4000i (6V9A5AV)?

The "how" is shown in this YouTube instructional video: (1669) How to Upgrade a HP Envy Desktop TE01 Into a Real Gaming Machine | Before after Benchmarks - ..., and the "what" depends on what power supply you got in your desktop.

Your PC either got a 310-watt power supply with p/n: L10875-800, or a 400-watt power supply, with p/n: L69242-800.

Obviously, if you got the 400-watt power supply (or you're willing to upgrade to a 400-watt power supply), you could install a far more powerful graphics card than if you got the 310-watt power supply.

However, even with a 310-watt power supply, there are a number of decent GPUs I could recommend.

Please let me know what power supply you got, and what your graphics budget / expectations are.

Kind Regards,

I don't know yet if the card will ne necessary. I do Adobe video and was told this is going to be very slow.

I will keep what I have until the speed becomes intolerable.

Thanks again

@drjury,

FYI: You'll almost certainly need a discrete graphics card for (Adobe) video editing: Adobe Premiere Pro System Requirements:

Computer has L08262-002. Max power 310W. See no extra plugs except for what I take to be SATA.  The graphics card I'd like to use is from a Dell which no longer has wireless WIFI.

@drjury,

That is unfortunate that your 310-watt power supply isn't equipped with a 6+2-pin PCIe power cable.

In my opinion, the best way forward is to upgrade your power supply with a compatible 400-watt power supply, with p/n: L69242-800, which is equipped with one 6+2-pin PCIe power cable.

You can purchase one of these power supplies online, such as through a top-rated Trusted eBay Seller, like this one: New For HP Power Supply 942332-001 400W 280 288 285 480 600 680 800 790 G3 G4 US | eBay.

This power supply easily powers a GTX 1660, and higher performing graphics cards as well, such as a GTX 1660 Super, GTX 1660 Ti, or an RTX 3050.  In terms of size, stick with the smaller-sized (one or two fan) models powered by a single 8-pin PCIe power cable, such as an HP or Dell-branded GTX 1660:
