Welcome to the HP Forum.

 

I can't say if HP provides the hardware to do an optical drive in your case if your PC did not ship with this component.

 

The optical drive slot on the case may be a filler plate. This drive would need to be connected to a sliding drive caddy to function.

 

I stand corrected if you are replacing an existing optical drive.

 

You can do an external USB 3.0 drive at Amazon or Newegg if your PC can't support an internal optical drive.
