Hi @Mackie12

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how important it is to expand your storage smoothly, and I appreciate your patience.

Let me share the complete steps for adding a 2TB storage drive to your HP TP01‑2234 desktop in a clear and structured way.

What You’ll Need

  • A compatible 2TB SATA hard drive (HDD) or solid‑state drive (SSD)
  • SATA data cable (if not already included)
  • Phillips‑head screwdriver
  • Anti‑static wrist strap (recommended)

Step‑by‑Step Installation

1. Power Down and Prepare

  • Shut down the desktop completely.
  • Unplug the power cable and all peripherals.
  • Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds to discharge residual electricity.

2. Open the Case

  • Place the desktop on a flat surface.
  • Remove the side panel by loosening the screws at the back and sliding the panel off.

3. Locate the Drive Bay

  • Identify an empty 3.5" bay for HDD or 2.5" bay for SSD.
  • If installing a 2.5" SSD into a 3.5" bay, use a mounting bracket.

4. Mount the Drive

  • Slide the new drive into the bay.
  • Secure it with screws or the tool‑less latch system, depending on your chassis design.

5. Connect the Cables

  • Attach one end of the SATA data cable to the drive and the other to an available SATA port on the motherboard.
  • Connect a SATA power cable from the power supply to the drive.

6. Close the Case and Power On

  • Reattach the side panel and secure it.
  • Plug in the power cable and peripherals.
  • Power on the desktop.

7. Initialize and Format the Drive in Windows 11

  • Press Windows + X and select “Disk Management.”
  • Locate the new drive (it will show as unallocated).
  • Right‑click and choose “Initialize Disk.”
  • Create a new volume and format it (NTFS recommended).

This process will add the 2TB drive as additional storage alongside your existing 1TB drive.

Would you like me to also share the differences between choosing a 2TB HDD versus a 2TB SSD, so you can decide which option best fits your performance and storage needs?
