adding ram to hp elite 8000 desktop

hi....before scrapping my hp  11 year old hp pavillion slimline, i removed the two ram modules.  they are marked as 2GB  2Rx8  PC2-6400U-666-12-E3 and look very clean.   i now have a hp elite 8000 compact desktop, 2.8 GHZ, intelE7400, core 2 duo, 320 gb hdd.    the question i have is......can i safely add those two ram sticks to this elite 8000 to upgrade the ram from 4GB to 8GB?

any advice on this would be greatly appreciated..............thanks!!

Hi:

Those memory chips won't work in the 8000 Elite because the 8000 Elite uses DDR3 memory which runs at a different voltage, and the slot is cut in a different place to prevent installing the wrong voltage memory in the PC.

Your used chips would work in a dc7800 or dc7900 but not the 8000 Elite.

If you want to upgrade the memory in your 8000 Elite, you can go with 4 x 4 GB for a total of 16 GB.

I went with 4 of these in my 8000 Elite.
