Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

a few months ago I asked how to add a second nvme disk to my computer.

Finally today I managed to make the purchase:

- Samsung 980 1TB

- CSL - Scheda di espansione PCIe per Disco M.2 Key-M SSDs - Low Profile - Adattatore PCIe SSd M2 - Fino a 3938 Mbyte s - NVMe Standard Invece di AHCI - PCIexpress Invece di SATA - PCIe x4 o x16

I mounted the disk to the PCI card then I inserted the pci card into the slot.

I turned on the computer and the bios does not recognize the second disk.

I started the computer but obviously Windows doesn't see the second disk. Not even Linux.

What did I do wrong? What can I do?

Thank you.

Are you aware that not all PCIe adaptors for M.2 SSD disks are  created equal?  In order for one to work you have to have one that is compatible with NVMe.

Have you tried using the M.2 SSD with the M.2 slot on the PC's motherboard?

How was your desktop PC configured with storage devices from the factory?

I would invoke the Device Manager to see if the operating system recognizes the M.2 NVMe disk as being present.

The Device Manager should see the SSD whether it has a volume already created on it.

If you see it as present in the Device Manager, all you should need to do is create a volume and a partition to use it.
