HI,

Mini desktop HP 260

I forgot password entering setup bios. I need to reset and restore the BIOS on my HP 260 G2.

Send me SMC.bin (sn:[Personal Information Removed], pn: W4A51EA#ACB & sn:[Personal Information Removed], pn: 2KL50EA#ACB) please.

Regards.

Hi:

Your PC should have a clear password jumper that is removed to clear the BIOS P/W.

See the service manual at the link below chapter 8, pages 82 & 83 for how to clear the BIOS P/W.

If that does not work, then the stringent security option was set in the BIOS's security menu which prevents the removing the jumper from clearing the password.

Stringent security is a mode where there is no physical bypass of the password function. If enabled, removing the password jumper will be ignored.

If that is the case, HP will no longer provide assistance with password issues and the motherboard would need to be replaced.
