- can i use core 2 duo e7400 in hp compact dc 5700 small from factor?. in support cpu page, the maximum core 2 duo support is core 2 duo e6700 but the e7400 spec and fsb speeds is same like e6700. some people said that it will be a microcode problem if i do upgrade my hp compaq dc 5700 to core 2 duo e7xxx siries. please help me it very mean alot to me.

Hi:
Yes, it will work but not without a microcode update and running a program that maxes out the processor speed every time you start the PC (unless you know how to program it to run automatically).

There aren't any other versions.
If you updated the BIOS to the latest version and the Microcode update I gave you, those are the latest ones available.
I know that program works because others have used it to max out the speed of their E7xxx processors on their dc5700 and dc7700 processors.
The problem is that HP has archived (removed) a lot of older forum discussions and I cannot find any posts that provide any help on how to use that utility.
If memory serves me right, you have to max out the Multiplier setting on the program to the highest setting it will go to.

Here I found an old post where I told the person they have to set the multiplier setting in the CrystalCPUID program to the max.

The post shows the person did use the utility and the processor runs at the full speed.

You're very welcome.
Glad your PC's processor is now running at the right speed.
Hopefully you can write that little batch file they suggested at the bottom of that link to automatically start the program for you.
