Hi Aadityayaju, I am not familiar with your desktop, but according to HP's specs ( HP Slimline Desktop - 290-p0017in Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support ) it shows that your OEM PSU delivers only 180 watts, probably not sufficient to power a graphics card beyond a GeForce GT 1030 which can draw its power from your Menlo motherboard's PCIe X16 slot.

Your question came up before in this forum.  ( Solved: Upgrade Power Supply for HP Slimline 290 - HP Support Community - 7039086 ). Some folks in that forum thread were confused, claiming that the HP Slimline 290-P0xxx didn't have a PCIe X16 slot ("there are no Expansion Slots for a graphics upgrade"), probably because HP's product specification link (see first link) only mentioned the two M.2 slots, and mistakenly omitted the PCIe X1 and PCIe X16 slots.   (See: HP Desktop PCs - motherboard specifications, Menlo | HP® Customer Support ).

However, others apparently have figured out how to make decent GPUs to work on your system, such as an RX 590 and the GTX 1650 (See: UserBenchmark: HP Slim Desktop 290-p0xxx Compatible Components ), so to answer your question: yes, it appears your desktop should be able to support a GTX 1050Ti, but probably powered by either a more powerful PSU, or by using an externally connected PSU.

I will research this and get back to you.

[EDIT:] Found a solution: cross-referenced -either of these two OEM HP power supplies are compatible with your system:

1.) 400 watts PSU: HP L04618-800

2.) 500 watts PSU: HP L05757-800

However, please be advised that any of these PSUs may not physically fit within your desktop. That shouldn't matter, I have three heavily upgraded legacy HP desktops with PSUs parked outside their chassis.  Be aware that a quick search on eBay suggests that even the 400 watts PSU unfortunately does not come cheap (>$130).

Hope this info helps.
