@philicheesestea,

As long as it is a low-profile version, it is up to you.

Which one would you recommend

@philicheesestea,

If I wanted to purchase a GTX 1050 Ti Low Profile card right now, I would go with the eBay purchase option I posted in my previous response before it is sold: ZOTAC GEFORCE GTX 1050 TI 4GB GDDR5 GPU Low Profile Graphics Card | eBay.

@philicheesestea,

Outstanding!

You can download the GTX 1050 Ti driver from the official Nvidia downloading site here -select as shown: Official GeForce Drivers | NVIDIA:

Or download the latest driver version (as of 10/03/2023) directly from herehttps://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/results/211709/.

But wait to install the driver until after you installed the card.  Please remember to power down your desktop, unplug from power, and push your desktop's power-on button down for three seconds in order to discharge any residual power.

You have to remove these two rectangular PCI brackets before you plug in your card in the black PCIe x16 slot:

By pulling the green arrow up (see red circle), and then you can remove (slide up) the two PCI brackets as outlined above.

Insert your card on the black PCIe x16 slot, by gently pushing it down.  If there is something restricting you from snapping the card in place, stop, and let me know. If installed, 'snap' the green arrow back down to secure your card. Then reconnect power, plug in your monitor into the graphics card. Start up your PC, and your PC should use the graphics card for display.

Be patient, it may take a few minutes.  Once your PC has booted up, right-click on the Nvidia download and "Run as administrator".  The Nvidia software should then be able to locate your card and set it up for you.

I'll be available if you need any further assistance.

Kind Regards,

the box came with a smaller backplate, but how do you unscrew the backplate

HP Recommended

@philicheesestea,

There should be two mounting screws securing the bracket to the graphics card.  Look carefully, you should be able to locate them.  Sometimes, you may have to remove the graphics card's back plate to reach these screws.  Since I don't know what card you have, it is difficult to assist you.
