The PC did not come with information explaining which USB ports to use for 3.0, C. etc. and there are no illustrations.
I have not been able to find any answers in the HP support site.

USB ports are color coded for each revision/speed simply match the device's usb plug color to the computer's usb ports color
nothing bad (other than sub optimal speed's) will happen if you mismatch the colors
