would like to add slave drive ( originally hitachi master on my old hp pavilion desktop a6622f )  .  is it possible?  my old memory was using pins and non on the hitiachi to slave it

Welcome to the HP Forum.

 

Slave HDDs would apply to the very old IDE HDD drive standard which requires a slave drive config when daisy chaining HDDs on the same IDE cable.

 

SATA HDDs don't don't require this.

 

Connect the Hitachi drive, if it is a SATA HDD, to a separate MB SATA data port using a SATA data cable and provide a SATA power connection from the power supply to HDD.

Thanks Bill. It is a SATA HHD .  Guess I have been away from tinkering on PC's way too long.
