Hi i know what parameters i need for the ram i want to upgrade but my question is can you put a dimm module or does it have to be udimm for a memory upgrade in 8200 elie sff i figure as long as the specs are compatible it would work with a dimm and not neccessairly a udimm module.

cheers for your help

Hi, Adam:

You should use DDR3-1333 MHz UDIMM memory as shown in the Quickspecs at the link below, page 10.

Two channels of non-ECC unbuffered DDR3 memory with a maximum of two UDIMMs per channel.

HP Compaq 8200 Elite Series (kelsusit.com)

Buffered/ECC memory is not supported in the 8200 Elite model series.

While the terms are sometimes used interchangeably, most folks refer to DIMM memory as Buffered/ECC, and UDIMM memory as Unbuffered, non-ECC.  That is what the 'U' stands for in UDIMM.

If you are looking at DIMM memory that is non-ECC/unbuffered, it should work.
