good morning,
The Context:
1. I have installed 8 SAS drives into my HP Z420 into the 5.25 bay
2. I have installed a noctua fan in front of the drives and connected it to the FRNTFAN on the motherboard
3. OS: FreeBSD 13.2
The Problem: I would like to learn how I can control the said fan speed ( Internal Reference Designator: P9 FRNTFAN )
Note: sysctl -a | hw.acpi command does not show any thermal/fan related properties as it is on HP laptops.

Hi Dmitry,
It is not possible to control the individual fan speeds on the Z420 motherboard. The only available setting in the BIOS is to control the system fans idle speed. Rather than powering your fan from the motherboard, I would recommend tapping power from the spare molex connector in the Z420 and using a simple dedicated fan speed controller such as this . . .
