HP EliteDesk 800 65W G4 Base Model Desktop Mini PC

My unit came with a Nvme SSD, and I want to install a 250GB SATA SSD for the OS and use the Nvme just for storage.

I bought an SSD tray with fan but the motherboard of my HP Elitedesk 800 G4 65w has only one fan connection and I need to connect 2 fans.

So I need a splitter cable but I can't find one. What would you recommend?

yes, quite simply, the M2 port with an ssd disk will give you better performance
The sata, is much less efficient, so sufficient for storage, but for windows, and programs, the m2 will be much more responsive

I currently have an m2 SSD, and added, a crucial sata ssd as well..
ok, they are not the same computers, but personally, no overheating problem, and I did not add any fan..
But, I think I'm unable to tell you how to connect yours if necessary, if you don't have the required connectors!

hi

I don't know how to answer you for the fans..
but you are going to make a big mistake
if you have an M2 ssd then windows must be installed on it
The sata ssd being much less efficient
already tried without a fan, if possible, sometimes it is not necessary

Hi Prométhée,

Can you please tell me why it would be a big mistake to install the OS on the SATA (Crucial MX500 250GB) and not on the M2?

SATA SSD's don't tend to get hot very much but S2  SSD's do.

The SATA tray will be mounted on top of the S2, so the second fan is to cool the M2.

I'm also installing a copper Heatsink with Nano Thermal Pad on the M2.

I'm into forex trading and I'm going to use this mini desktop as my personal VPS to run my trading platforms 24/5.

Thanks a lot for your answer, It makes sense, After a closer look I've found a second connector on the motherboard so the fan is connected 😉
