Hi, Wilson:

I didn't expect that you would run into a problem like that.

It figures.

What you need is a Philips screwdriver that is long so you have more torque.

If you can't free those screws up, I don't see what other options you have other than to buy thermal paste and replace the whole unit.

Thank you! i am looking into buying some thermal paste. I am hoping that works. Other than that I think the fan with heatsink fits perfectly. I do not see any other options either besides taking it to a pc store. I have read about other problems with other users doing the repairs themselves. Some users still get a blue screen after heatsink with fan replacement. My fan still works but I get a blue screen intermittently. I have also tried blowing it out with air.

I am afraid that the blue screen may come back after heatsink replacement.

You're very welcome.

It could be a glitch with the BIOS or the motherboard if this happens after you replace the fan.

I checked all of the BIOS updates on your PC's support page for each BIOS family and none of them address a false CPU fan error though.

I hope you are able to successfully fix the problem one way or the other.

Hello,

Any other suggestions? Do you thing that I may be a glitch also? which may be why I get a blue screen intermittently.

Thank you for your help so far.

Hi, Wilson:

Unfortunately, I don't have any ideas or suggestions to offer regarding this peculiar issue.

I would have assumed it was a bad CPU fan or wire, and replaced it as you are doing.
